One dose safer than two

Update | Pharmaceutical & healthcare | 06 Jan 2017

Kiadis has announced an update on the second dose Phase II study of ATIR101 in patients with haematological malignancies to investigate whether a second dose could be administered if needed. There were cases of grade III/IV Graft vs Host Disease (GVHD) in some of the six patients who underwent a second dose of the product. Kiadis shares initially dropped 8% on the news, but have since recovered some of the losses. We see no impact on our valuation or forecasts following this news, as the market opportunity we forecast is predicated on a single dose of ATIR101, which will be investigated in the upcoming Phase III trial. Furthermore, safety has already been established for the single dose in previous studies. This second dose trial was purely to see if a second dose strategy could improve patient outcomes. We maintain our valuation of EUR 383.2m.

One-year follow-up data presented at ASH

Update | Pharmaceutical & healthcare | 08 Dec 2016

Kiadis Pharma has presented one-year follow-up data from a Phase II study in leukaemia patients (n=23) at the 58th meeting of the American Society of Hematology (ASH) in San Diego, US. Patients were administered ATIR101 after a haematopoietic stem cell transplant (HSCT) from a partially matching donor. The primary endpoint of transplant-related mortality (TRM) and secondary endpoint overall survival (OS) for patients receiving HSCT+ATIR101 were significantly higher than patients receiving HSCT alone from an observational control group. We are encouraged to see the low incidence of relapse in the ATIR101 arm in this high-risk patient population. Our valuation is EUR 383.2m or EUR 27.4 per share.

On the back of Phase II data, Kiadis is aiming for accelerated filing of ATIR101 with the European Medicines Agency (EMA) in Q117. A Phase III trial will start in H216. ATIR201 will start a Phase I/II trial in H216. Cash at end June 2016 was €23.7m, sufficient to fund operations until early 2018. We value the company at €327.3m or €27.1/share.
